This weeks song that i can’t get out of my head is “Snakes and Ladders” by Canadian songstress Basia Bulat. When i first listened to her debut album Oh, My Darling, this is the only track that really stood out. But after listening a little more attentively, it turns out that the whole album is actually pretty solid, with some really nice songs. “Snakes and Ladders” is dramatic, fast paced and string heavy with driving piano throughout, a sort of escape from the mellowness of the rest of the album. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from her in the near future.
