It turns out the Dears haven’t broken up after all. The core of Murray Lightburn and Natalia Yanchak have kept the spirit of the Dears alive when times were tough. Upon the departure of literally everybody else in the band, the duo recruited a new team of extremely talented musicians, who now make up the new lineup. Who are those talented men and women standing next to Murray and Natalia in the picture above? Let’s find out. First, on the ultimate left we have Jason Kent. If you don’t know who he is you should check out his band called the Crystal Lake. Next we have Yann Geoffrey, who also serves as the bassist of Montreal band Kill The Lights. The two new ladies in the band are Lisa Smith and Laura Wills who are the bassist and keyboardist/singer from another lovely little Montreal band called Pony Up. And rounding out the new lineup is Christopher McCarron who is a part-time member of yet another Montreal band, Land of Talk. Basically what we have hear is a slew of talented musicians coming together to form an all new Dears, led by the same core that started it all. What we are left with…you can find out for yourself by listening to the new album entitled MISSILES, which is out in stores now. Personally, I love it.
Here’s the video for “Money Babies”, from the new album:

I’ve never heard of the Dears before, but listening to their myspace, I like their music a lot. That’s a freaky video too.
I like this song. The video is quite compelling, relevant & original.
