Hello Friends,
My name is Gregory. I have decided to write is little ‘About Me’ page to give you a little bit of information about myself (in case you wanted to know). I have a very loving and very beautiful girlfriend named Kelly who lives in New York City, so I currently bounce back and forth between Montreal and NYC, but Montreal is the city that I call home. In case you didn’t know, Montreal looks like this:

I have started this blog to give myself a place to talk about the music I love. I used to try and talk to my friends about it until I realized that most of my friends have shitty taste in music and there’s no changing that.
I chose the Middle Distance Runner as my blog name because of this really great song by a band called Sea Wolf. Here are the lyrics to the song which is appropriately called “Middle Distance Runner”:
Well I’m so sad tonight
And the words won’t come out right
It’s been a long day on the track
And its stamina that I lack
So won’t you run to me tonight?
Tonight we could pretend that we’re just lovers
But I’ll only ever be a middle distance runner
Well my heart is beating hard
And I’m off with a shot at the start
And my legs tremble from strain
But by the finish line I am drained
So won’t you run to me tonight?
Tonight let’s not talk about next summer
Cause I’ll only ever be a middle distance runner
Well I’m so proud tonight
Of the woman you’ve become
And I’m just too tired to fight
So my darling, I’ll succumb
But you’ll have to run to me tonight
Tonight I will love you forever
But I’ll only ever be a middle distance runner
Along with my blog, I also write a weekly blog for The Yellow Bird Project, which in case you didn’t know is a really great non-profit organization in which bands or artists design t-shirts with all the money going to the charity of their choice. Not just any artists either. Artists and bands like the Shins, Rilo Kiley, Devendra Banhart, Stars, Broken Social Scene and the National have all jumped on board for this amazing project. And that’s just to name a few. Take a look at some of my favourite designs:
Bon Iver’s Design:

Perdy.
I have also done some work for another very awesome website called Baeblemusic. What they do is videotape entire concerts and then air them on their site. Bands like Dr. Dog, the Black Lips and Lykke Li, to name a few. I am so proud to be a part of such an awesome project.
Well I guess that’s all I really have to say about myself. If there is anything else you’d like to know feel free to drop me an email:

Bonjour!
Love the site, love the music, love Montreal! Glad I stumbled upon it. We’re on the same wavelength–I hear you about finding people to talk music with! Keep it up and I’ll keep coming back!
I can’t stop listening to: Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes (saw them in Seattle, where I reside, in October), and MMJ’s “Z” (recently resurrected!)
Do you ever listen to the radio show “Sound Opinions”? Check it out!
Ciao for now!
Thanks for the kind words!
How’s the music scene over there in Seattle?
I am going to check out that radio show…
Take care,
Greg
