God Help The Girl

Ouuuu la la! They made a video for “Come Monday Night”, the awesome first single from Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian’s new movie. The whole album is quite lovely if I do say so myself. It’s pretty much like a new B&S album and I am loving it. Reminds me of summers long ago when I first discovered Belle & Sebastian and wore my Belle & Sebastian pin on my bag with pride and everyone would ask me “What’s Belle & Sebastian?” and I’d say “It’s this really great band” and they’d say “oh” and lose interest and I’d go back to my crossword puzzle. I really can’t wait to see the actual movie. Good to have you back Mr. Murdoch.

Mew album coverJust wow. So the new Mew album will be called No More Stories are Told Today I’m Sorry They Washed Away No More Stories the World is Grey I’m Tired Let’s Wash Away. That has to be some kind of record for longest album title ever. I think I may be more excited for this than any other album being released this year (maybe even more so than for the new Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap albums…) Only two more months.

-Mew has just posted a brand new song called “Introducing Palace Players” from their new album on their myspace page. Click here to listen.

The new video from fellow Montrealer, Tiga, has just the right mix of weirdness and goodness that makes me want to share it with you. He has a new album in stores now called “Ciao!”. If you like this cluby dancy stuff then I suggest you pick it up! Here’s the video:

(edit: Danish Poet this one’s for you!)

So it finally happened! My mac broke! which is why I’ve been away so long. After spending about 2 hours at the Soho Genius bar, I’m back up and running with a new hard drive and a new pair of apple headphones absolutely free. Thanks mac.

So…whats new? Well there’s last week’s Baeble Mixtape

I’m also loving this girl…

Her name is Alela Diane. Here’s her latest video for the song “Every Path”:

And finally, here are some lovely new bands that I have discovered recently.

Chris Garneau (depicted above caring the giant decapitated rabbit head) is about to release upon the world his second LP, entitled El Radio. I have heard from a very very good source that it is an incredible record. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Garneau in concert on two occasions and both times was really impressed. I am even more excited to find out that the song “Fireflies”, which is wonderful live, is going to be on the new album. Oh Chris, how do you do it?

This video just looks like a good time. I kind of want to be part of it.

Wooden ArmsWell I think the good news of the day is that Patrick Watson has released some information regarding his forthcoming album release. I’m not 100% sure, but the above picture may just be the new album cover for Watson’s (or as I called him P-Wat’s) new album. The album will definitely be called Wooden Arms, and you can expect to see it in stores on April 28th in Canada, May 5th in the US, May 8th in Australia, May 11th in the UK and Europe and June 24th in Asia. All of the info as well as a brand new, and may I say quite fantastic new song can be found on the new Wooden Arms teaser site found here. Mister Watson also has a slew of tour dates coming up. I have had the chance to see this Montreal native in concert once, opening for I can’t remember who. Maybe it was The Dears at Metropolis many years ago. Anyways, I am so excited to hear this baby. Along with the new Mew and Midlake records this is one of my most anticipated releases of 2009.
